Lehel Motor Sport Transporter ‘How to Care’ Paint Work

Washing your Lehel truck is an important part of keeping it clean and shiny. Dusty, smoggy air at motorsport events, tree sap, spider poo and rain can all have a detrimental effect on what was your lovely shiny glinting paint finish.
Having a regular consistent schedule for washing your motor sport transporter is essential in keeping that shiny finish. Lehel do not recommend using normal dish or any kind of indoor soap/detergent products as these can easily strip any coatings of wax from previous vehicle pampering days. The best products for washing your Lehel transporter are vehicle care products specially developed for high finish water based metallic paint finishes .

Remember when cleaning your transporter you should park it in an area out of direct sunlight and clean the vehicle starting with the roof. The roof is easily accessed from one of the electric roof vents. Be sure the roof vent is closed before carrying out any cleaning on the roof surface. After the roof has been cleaned, work your way down the vehicle to ensure that you are cleaning off all the dirt. You may be wondering why we advise you to start with the roof. If you left the roof till last you would then have to re wash the truck as all the dirt from the roof would now be running down the sides! Oh yes do not forget to clean the wheels!
Once you have cleaned the transporter coat in some paint work protective shine wax as this will help protect the clear coat lacquer. This clear coat is a soft material, scratches are easily absorbed occurring from things as little as someone brushing past with an item of clothing .

    Lehel offer some pointers about the care and materials you should use when you are cleaning your truck.

  1. Ensure all openings are closed prior to washing.
  2. Do not use truck wash of any form or any alkaline/abrasive cleaners . A Lehel transporter is finished in water based metallic paint. Use a high end vehicle wash and polish / wax
  3. Do not use a jet wash as this can push dirt under the clear coat and penetrate the seals.
  4. Don’t use any abrasive or ruff textured washing props only use specialized soft vehicle washing equipment. Brooms must not be used as these can damage the soft coat lacquer.
  5. If you notice you have chipped paint or find some damage to your body work we recommend having your local body shop repair as necessary . You can use a touch up stick as a temporary measure to stop any water getting under the paint, although we do not recommend this as a long term solution .

The walls , caps and bumpers of a Lehel transporter are gel coated fiber glass. Use the same washing instructions above be sure to inspect regular, if any chips cracks or scratches are discovered contact your local coachman or auto motive body repair shop

On all Lehel trucks the paint codes are located inside the electrical box door.
